A LITTLE SAFFRON
Ileana Morales Valentine
Hi! Welcome to A Little Saffron, a cooking journal from a kitchen in Florida. I’m Ileana, the writer, photographer, and cook behind this blog.
I’m originally from Miami, where my family still lives, and I currently live in St. Petersburg, Fla. with my Midwestern husband, Danny.
The blog’s name comes from a line in Ratatouille, a movie that charmed me and reminded us that anyone can cook. I cook because I love to eat. You can expect posts about once a week here and the occasional cooking project (homemade pasta, tartine bread).
I am also a correspondent for the Tampa Bay Times Taste section. I review cookbooks in a column called Page to Plate. I’ve written In Our Kitchen, a home cooking column based on this blog, and other features with photos and recipes for the newspaper since 2012. Check out the first column and visit my writer page for the latest. I’m also available for other freelance work.
All photos and content on this site are mine unless otherwise noted. If you’d like to use one of my photos, please email me. A big thank you to Maggie Waller for designing the logo and website. Thanks to Lara Cerri of the Times for the bottom photo. Another big thank you to you for reading. If you’d like to reach me, I’d love to hear from you!
